Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University Technology Business Incubation Centre (SMVDU TBIC) has embarked on a journey, “100 StartUps JK”, with a unique highly ambitious objective of bringing out and facilitating 100 new innovative start-ups. The primary objective of “VocalForLocal” and “AatamNirbharBharat”. SMVDU TBIC is supported by National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB) Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. Through various grants and schemes of DST like establishment of business incubator, NIDHI SSS and NIDHI PRAYAS etc. as well as support of various stakeholders, it is anticipated to achieve the target by 2021.
Chairperson GC & MC, SMVDU TBIC, Padamshree Prof. RK Sinha, Honourable Vice-Chancellor, SMVDU, will be launching mission “100 StartUps JK” in a online meeting today (5th June 2020) on Google meet. The event can be joined at http://meet.google.com/edd-hsnf-dfk by all interested.
CEO SMVDU TBIC, Dr. Swarkar Sharma informed that the online launch is expected to attend by almost 100 dignitaries and stakeholders. This include various members of the Governing council and Management committee of SMVDU Technology Business Incubation Centre. Various external members and dignitaries, Deans, Directors, mentors, Faculty and Staff of SMVDU have been invited to attend the event. Many startups and potential entrepreneurs from the region also are anticipated to attended the launch of 100 Startups J&K.
In this initiative by SMVDU TBIC, JK StartUp Association is participating as ecosystem partner in the region and the endeavour is powered by mentors and supporters like Startup Buddy, Indian STEP & Business Incubator Association (ISBA), We Group, K&S Partners, Adsatra IP, Boudhik Ventures and Indian Institution Council (IIC) SMVDU. To achieve the goal, continuous screening and acceptance of ideas will be adapted. The shortlisted ideas will be facilitated by SMVDU TBIC and partner organizations in various domains. The facilities will include Financial assistance, Patent Filing assistance, Incubation support, Dedicated Technology and Business Mentorship sessions, Scheduled Leadership sessions via workshops, webinars and excellent opportunities to network with the best in the domain. This program will reap many additional benefits including huge learning potential for the participating individuals, actionable insights on start-up development, increased awareness towards entrepreneurship as well as a self-sustaining entrepreneurial ecosystem in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir.
SMVDU TBIC has anchored many initiatives in the recent past with aim to develop a start-up ecosystem in the UT of J&K and has also helped facilitate aspiring entrepreneurs. Various Innovation Challenges, workshops, webinars and RISE (Research and Innovation for Social Empowerment) have been instrumental in igniting the spark in youth of the region towards incorporation of Technology based startups.
