Bengaluru: Dil Foods, a brand working with small to medium independent food businesses and restaurants, has recently launched in Bengaluru. Dil Foods uses the under-utilized infrastructure of small independent restaurants to provide an authentic regional cuisine experience to the diverse palates of India. This ambitious project rests on the capable shoulders of a young Arpita Aditi, Founder, and CEO of Dil Foods, who wishes to unite the small food businesses in Bengaluru with the palates of consumers who are hungry for authentic flavors of India.

Indians have diverse tastes when it comes to daily meals. However, it is logistically and operationally challenging for a single-themed restaurant to cater to multi-cuisine requirements. Rents and other fixed costs are hurdles that small restaurants offering regional food have to overcome, while also struggling to remain profitable after incurring marketing costs. The Indian food industry witnessed high shut-down rates in smaller restaurants operating at this scale.

The Dil team identified such key issues and came up with a solution to address these pain points. They provide training, packaging, and marketing to small restaurants owned independently, and assimilate them into the larger Dil brand.

Speaking on the recent launch of her brand, Arpita said, “My love for food and the people in this industry have led me to create Dil Foods. We aim to work with small to medium independent food businesses that believe in preserving the authenticity of India’s food, but need support to reach great heights. With Dil, I see a brand that can cater to any regional cuisine in its truest sense, while also safeguarding the livelihoods of our restaurant partners. We are excited about taking our venture out in the world of food, and hope that our patrons grow in strength not just in Bengaluru, but beyond too!

Dil Foods is a unique asset-light model, wherein they share the economy with the small and medium-sized restaurants to make the food business sustainable for all.  Their brand compartmentalization makes them stand out in the market as a unique voice. Each type of cuisine is offered by a distinct, but cohesive brand under Dil Foods. As of today, Dil Foods has launched Dil Punjabi and Dil Tiffins on Swiggy and Zomato. These two brands under the Dil umbrella provide authentic Punjabi food and South Indian breakfast and meals , respectively. While these brands are live on different platforms as of now, the plan is to eventually move them onto Dil’s own online platform, with even more cuisines to be added soon as sub-brands.

Recently, they announced that they have raised 128,000 USD (0.9 CR INR) in funding from Angel investors. With this funding, Dil Foods is driving development and expansion in Bengaluru. They have already gone live for home delivery in 15 locations across Bengaluru – the team achieved this scale in just 2 months, which is a testament to their knowledge and expertise.

The idea came from Founder and CEO Arpita Aditi, who has been in the food industry for the past 6 years, managing partnerships with Swiggy from 2017 to 2019, and later launching Nutnbolt, a business solution to solve issues for the food industry. Armed with this experience and expertise, she envisioned a framework where small food businesses can work together to provide authentic regional food that could replace daily meals. They provide authenticity and diversity in their menu, such that their food can easily become the go-to for all meals in a day.

Dil Foods looks forward to working with independent restaurant owners to create a shared and sustainable economy that can cater to the varied Indian palate. Their platform is inclusive, scalable, and an authentic solution for growing demand for regional cuisines in Bengaluru.
