Masai is an outcome-based skilling institute that focuses on training students in software development and data analytics. Masai’s mission is to bridge the skill gap in India and provide high quality skill training that can help make tech jobs more accessible to the youth, irrespective of their education and financial background. Anyone can become a software developer or a data analyst at zero upfront fee. Our alumni only pay us when they get a job of 5LPA within 1 year of course completion, else they learn for free.
Our approach is simple. We take on the financial risk of education with our students. So when they do well, we earn. Our belief is that the outcome of education should be skill development to become financially secure and start a sustainable career rather than just getting a degree.
This belief means that we focus on our pedagogy and curriculum to make sure that our students come into job-market as industry ready professionals. Industry collaboration is an important part for us. We reverse engineer our curriculum as per eco-system demands and teach stacks that are more current. This up-to-date curriculum is then administered with a pedagogy that accounts for different learning curves of students. Mastery Based Progression plays a huge part in this, where we are able to almost tailor make the way of teaching to a cohort of students as per their needs. This, along with our feverish implementation of Practice-Based-Learning, where students dont attend lectures but actually work on real world problems means that students learn more and absorb more in 35 weeks, than in 4 years of college. Our focus on holistic learning is revered by our 2500+ hiring partners too. This doesn’t just mean soft skills and English fluency, but we actually want to make sure our students come out of the course with the ABILITY to be self driven when learning new tech stacks. Whatever the current technology is, it will change in 2-3 years, so it is important in tech to be agile with learning. This focus makes them good at picking up new skills, and that is the main difference between us and colleges. Focus is not just on learning, but actually on how to learn.
The success of the company, thus, is dependent on the success of our students and not our sales team(Masai does not have a sales team for our courses). This philosophy has not only made sure that we work on a student first principle, but we are working towards bridging the demand and supply of skilled engineering and analyst talent in India. 80%+ students come to us from tier 2,3, 4 cities in India and because of our Pay After Placement model, we are able to help them access white collar jobs in tech. This has been recognised by National Skill Development Corporation(NSDC) of India, who is working with us to create a framework of tech skill development which is expected to impact over 1.5 lac students and families in India in the next 5 years.
