World Chocolate Day

A day dedicated to chocolates is a day dedicated to joy. It’s all about honouring the spirit of a particular day, which would otherwise get lost in the daily grind. Since 2009, July 7 has been recognised as World Chocolate Day. Even though this is only a couple of decades old, the fresh energy it spreads every year are just too lovely!

Le Meridien, New Delhi, a premier luxury hotel group, held a Chocolate Soiree on July 7 to honour anything and anything associated with chocolate. On “World Chocolate Day,” they exposed the distinctly rich flavours of chocolate, paying respect to “mankind’s finest culinary masterpiece,” as they like to call it.

Chef Vivek Chauhan, the hotel’s executive pastry chef, and his crew assembled a scrumptious assortment of the most distinctive chocolates. The party featured a variety of mouthwatering sweets in inventive designs and featured participation from numerous culinary gurus.

Not only that, but there was a specific area for chocolates because they must be kept at a specific temperature. The process of manufacturing such delights is affected by the weather as well. Additionally, according to Chef Vivek, it takes roughly 7-8 days to carve the chocolates into the appropriate forms, give time to select the moulds, and acquire the structure intended.

While we can enjoy the beautiful display of chocolates in a matter of minutes, it takes a lot of sweet sweat to make everything come together.

The prominent pastry chef further stated that COVID also had an effect on the chocolate industry. The availability of ingredients, including those that are imported from foreign nations, negatively impacted the overall industry. Thus, they have made a reappearance with this chocolate soirée.

The Le Meridien team had created elaborate and distinctive chocolate confections, including a chocolate chess set, a chocolate piano, chocolate high heels, cakes, flavor-infused macarons, chocolate lollipops, and much more.

Along with the assortment of chocolate-based treats, there was a live counter where customers could make their own profiteroles.
