Kapil Gupta, founder of RUHE is a first-generation entrepreneur whose unwavering ambition fueled the rise of India’s biggest kitchen and bathroom fittings brand.

With an impressive catalogue of over 1,900 products, Ruhe stands atop the podium as one of the largest brands in the industry. Ever since its genesis in 2020, the company has been on a monumental growth trajectory that never subsided, even in the face of global challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic. From the beginning, the company has manufactured and sold its SKUs to its consumers directly. This helped the brand carve a unique identity in being one that was truly digital, truly D2C, and indeed one that changed how consumers would purchase this category of products.

With a genuine inclination towards manufacturing and technology, Kapil always sought to pioneer solutions that were distinct in the face of conventional business models around him. As a computer science student at the University of Southern California, Kapil developed an affinity for software development and how it relates to products that are used in people’s lives. This enabled him to land a role at SAP Labs in Palo Alto, California. During this time, he subsequently started to develop a flair for entrepreneurship. With his heart set on wanting to create and run something of his own, Kapil left his lucrative job in the United States to return to India.

Here, he began manufacturing as an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), primarily focusing on making products like floor drains for big brands nationwide. Eventually, Kapil would set up factories that manufactured kitchen sinks, brass faucets, PTMT (Polytetra Methylene Terephthalate) faucets, bath accessories, and allied items. In doing all this, Kapil realized the immense potential of the team he raised and trained. This prompted him to take the next step in his entrepreneurial aspirations: Ruhe.

The company was founded to instill innovation and creativity in the solutions delivered to consumers. The prerequisite step to ensure this was to manufacture every product indigenously. Following this, the next step was to have these products sold directly to consumers via their online store and other platforms such as Amazon, Flipkart, and Moglix.

Kapil identified a considerable gap in the kitchen & bathroom fighting space. He took notice of customers paying large amounts of money for products, resulting from multiple channel partners in purchase processes. At its core, Kapil strived to keep Ruhe continuously aligned with upholding extraordinary service quality. Some of this included a 30-day no-question return policy, warranties on products for up to 10 years, and a customer care support system that was reliant and efficient.

Many products are created keeping sustainability and the environment in mind. They are seen in the water-saving capabilities in Ruhe’s products, such as faucets & showers, and the use of raw materials in manufacturing & packaging. Today, the company boasts strong partnerships with over 3,000 dealers nationwide. This helps the company manufacture a wide array of Made-in-India products, from unbreakable bathroom accessories to allied items for installation purposes.

Kapil Gupta’s efforts went beyond just creating a brand but an entirely new category of products altogether – one that would give consumers experiences they wouldn’t be able to find anywhere else. Every satisfied customer is a testament to Ruhe’s commitment to professionalism in practice.
