Earlier this month, Twitter, which has rebranded as X, initiated its “Ads Revenue Sharing” program, aiming to retain top talent on its platform. Today, X announced that the program is now available globally for eligible creators. According to Elon Musk, owner of X, the company plans to distribute $5 million in the first round of creator payments, accumulated from February onwards.

Substantial Payouts for Eligible Creators

Several creators reported receiving significant payouts, ranging from five to six figures, due to the program. To qualify, users must subscribe to Blue (formerly Twitter Blue) or Verified Organizations, have at least 15 million impressions on cumulative posts within the last three months, and have a minimum of 500 followers.

X- Monetizing Ads in Replies to Encourage Conversation

X determines payouts based on the ads served in replies to creators’ posts, incentivizing content that generates extensive conversation. However, X has implemented guidelines to maintain a safe environment. Content involving sexual content, violence, criminal behaviors, gambling, drugs, alcohol, and “get-rich schemes” is prohibited. Creators are also restricted from attempting to monetize copyrighted content they don’t own.

X- Global Launch and Enthusiastic Reception

With the program’s global launch, X aims to create a platform that rewards creators for their efforts. X’s CEO, Linda Yaccarino, hails it as an “absolute game-changer” for creators, emphasizing the company’s commitment to fostering a thriving creator community.

Musk’s Tweet on User Growth and Third-Party Data Discrepancies

Elon Musk shared a chart showing that X’s monthly users reached a new high in 2023, even after removing bots. However, third-party measurement tools reported discrepancies. Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince mentioned declining traffic to the Twitter domain. Similarweb also reported declines in Twitter traffic when Threads launched.

The “Ads Revenue Sharing” program marks a significant step in X’s efforts to empower creators and reward their contributions to the platform’s vibrant community. With global accessibility and enthusiastic reception, X is determined to be a leading platform for creators worldwide.
