However, this icon is only visible if the WhatsApp account has activated the feature and if the group is compatible. When tapped, the waveform icon initiates a voice chat, accompanied by its dedicated interface. This setup facilitates seamless interaction, allowing up to 32 participants in the group to join the conversation effortlessly.

Notably, the new group voice chat feature in WhatsApp distinguishes itself from existing group calls. Unlike conventional group calls that trigger all participants’ phones to ring, the voice chat operates more discreetly, eliminating the simultaneous ringing effect.
