The world is changing every day, from people’s thought process to their working behavior, through technology to literature changes are everywhere.

The corporate world has not remained untouched from this change.

New technology and Artificial Intelligence have already changed the working culture in corporate sectors, and as we all know that learning is a continuous process, it becomes important for organizations to train their employees for these possible changes.

Training employees is one of the most important aspects of a growing organization, yet it has not been taken on a priority level in most companies.

Importance of Training :

Training allows employees to learn new techniques and enhance their skills, which moulds the thinking of employees and provides stability, lowers the management cost, and leads to quality performance of employees.

Organizing proper training and development sessions for employees also brings a sense of responsibility and ownership in their behavior.

Training is a continuous process that allows employees to acquire new skills, sharpen existing ones, perform better, increase productivity and make them better leaders.

As we know that the backbone of any organization is always its employees, and if the company takes care of the individual achievement of its employees, they will get better results in the return of a better team and leaders.

Types of Training :

Businesses have training programs as per the size of the company and the requirement to enhance the skills of their employees. It can be different for each organization, but the most common ones are as follows

1. Orientation

Almost every company conducts an Orientation program for their new employees. This usually takes place during 1st week of joining of an employee.

Organized by Human Resource Department this training is a part of onboarding, which is a series of the training session and makes employee familiar with the work culture of the company and also includes :

2. Technical skill Development

Technical training helps employees to learn the techniques used by the organization and helps them to perform their roles efficiently. If employees are already aware of the techniques, they can still undergo further training programs to gain knowledge and enhance their skills.

Technical skill development training includes :

  • Content Writing
  • Data Analysis
  • Coding
  • Programming and much more.

3. Soft Skill Development/Team Training

Soft skill development training is useful for both new employees and old ones. It helps them to come up as a team and work together for individual and company’s benefit.

It enables them to communicate and work cooperatively with their co-workers.

The focus of this training is to create a balanced and healthy work culture in an organization.

  • Communication
  • Problem-solving
  • Teamwork
  • Presentation
  • Leadership
  • Establishing good relationships with teammates
  • Time management
  • Conflict resolution
  • Improving team collaboration
  • Work ethics
  • Improving communication
  • Creating a positive work environment
  • Identifying and leveraging the strengths of team members
  • Creating motivating work culture

4. Quality training

Quality training usually takes place in production-focused companies. The focus of this training is to train its employees to ensure quality standards are set by the company.

Many companies even provide certification to complete this training successfully.

  • The training includes:

5. Products and services training

Though this training is usually a part of Orientation or Onboarding, employers may use this training while introducing new campaigns or products.

The purpose of this training is to provide different aspects of campaigns which includes:

Benefits of Training :

There are many benefits of continuous training in an organization, just like doctors, sportsperson, Army needs time to time training and update themselves before getting into their field, every organization requires training for their employees.

With timely training and guidance employees can give their best and help each other in their respective job which on the other hand lower the cost of the company.

Appointing new employees is, in any case, costlier than training existing ones. The benefits of training are endless but some of them are listed below:

1. Increases job satisfaction and morale among employees

Training satisfies the morale among employees and makes them work efficiently as they feel themselves a part of the organization and strive to give their best

2. It satisfies the recommendation of performance appraisal.

For employees who are moving towards higher roles, training helps them to understand their responsibility from a wider angle and it helps them to perform better and effectively.

3. Improves skill and trains employees to help each other in need.

This is one of the most important benefits I found of Training. From time to time when people have lesser work than others or when there is an emergency of more hands for a particular work, existing and trained employees are the best add-on in an organization.

4. Increased efficiencies in processes, resulting in financial gain

When your employees are well trained and satisfy with the work culture of the company, in return they put their best efforts into every work they perform. Having a trained and performing employee is an asset to any company which in return strengthens the financial gain.

5. Increased capacity to adopt new technologies and methods

Again, with the fast-changing world, the employee needs to learn new techniques and methods of performing a job. Training provides this cushion to the employees and makes them learn new things with time.

6. Increased innovation in strategies and products

Knowing and learning new technology always brings innovation in the way of working. Whether it is about learning market needs or creating strategies all can be sorted out through proper training.

7. Reduced employee turnover

Hiring a new employee is many times not a good decision from the management’s point of view. Train existing employees and cut the cost of hiring new employees and again train them from the initial level. Yes, they might be good at certain things, but giving learning opportunities to existing ones is always a good decision on the cost of the company.

8. Enhanced company image

Everyone talks about Tata’s employee policy and their work culture, have you ever thought why? Because they have created their company image through their employee-friendly policies. One most important thing here is to understand that Employee is an asset to your company, use of their capability depends on you.

9. Saves time, money and efforts

We need the training to learn everything efficiently, without wasting time in doing and making mistakes. Training provides us learning opportunities from other’s experience.

The basic need of training is to learn things quickly in a lesser time.

Up Shot

Training starts from our childhood and remains with us till the end. This is an ongoing learning process, which changes its methods according to the changing world.

Training only enhances our skills and makes us deliver the best of our efforts.

If an employer understands this small yet powerful tool of business, they may earn a better livelihood for everyone associated with them.
