Christine Swaminathan (HWARF) conceptualized Blood Donation Camp for Judges and Advocates receives overwhelming response.

Mumbai: The pandemic has certainly put pressure on the healthcare resources of the country, Blood Banks being such resources that need constant support. Christine Swaminathan of Humanitarian Welfare And Research Foundation (HWARF) has been tirelessly working for various initiatives like “Make Way for Ambulance, Village Development Programme, Project SWATCH, Providing shelter for homeless women, children and senior citizens amongst others for past 11 years. The foundation has been constantly conceptualizing   initiatives to support different causes and the alarming rise for the need of blood at blood banks became the reason to take a step in this direction. Also, it is an important observation that 1 in 7 people entering a hospital need Blood. And despite, medical and technological advances, Blood cannot be created in a laboratory and hence there is no substitute and thus, Blood Donation is the only possible way to save lives. And this gave rise to the thought of organising a series of blood camps starting with the one held at Court of Small Causes wherein Judges, Advocates and staff of Court of Small Causes participated in in this camp arranged in association with Humanitarian Welfare and Research Foundation (HWARF), Mumbai Highway Police and JJ Hospital, in Mumbai, India recently.

“Several hospitals across the city have been undergoing a shortage in the number of blood donors available. It is extremely important that all of us come together in support of one another during such times where the world is undergoing a healthcare crisis. We are humbled to have received the support from the Court of Small Causes and allowing us to arrange for this systematically planned blood donation camp in association with the Mumbai Highway Police and JJ Hospital to do our bit and we are very grateful for the wonderful received from all the Donors who came forward and did their bit for humanity.” Says Christine Swaminathan, Founder, HWARF.
