ESAF launches ‘Kaitharikoru Kaithangu’ initiative to support Kuthampully Weavers

ESAF Small Finance Bank has launched ‘Kaitharikoru Kaithangu’ initiative as part of the national handloom day. This initiative is being implemented as a CSR initiative of the bank in collaboration with NABARD. K Paul Thomas, MD and CEO, ESAF Bank, inaugurated the project. The first phase of the project strives to revive handloom production in Kuthampully, a weaver’s village in Thrissur district. This ongoing scheme will include other handloom manufacturing societies in the coming days. As part of this, ESAF employees would wear handloom for the next five days from Atham on the occasion of Onam celebrations.

 “The aim is to promote local handloom production, sales and weaving talents. The best way to revive the economy is by building the rural economy. This program may be replicated in other areas also. ESAF will continue to uphold the heritage and find solutions to the growth of the rural economy,” K Paul Thomas said.

 Manthri Muthali and Sivakumar, Presidents of Thiruvilvamala and Eravathodi Handloom Societies respectively were honored with Ponnada at the function. Mareena Paul and Dr. Jacob Samuel, co-founders,ESAF, Selena George, Chairman, ESAF Co-operative Society, Alok Thomas Paul, Director, ESAF Swasraya Producers Company also graced the occasion.
