Meta’s Threads App Unveils New Features Including Liked Posts Viewer and Media Upload Quality

Meta’s text-based app, Threads, has recently introduced a range of updates in response to user feedback and demands. The latest app update includes the ability to view liked posts, a new media upload quality option, and enhanced sorting capabilities for the following list.

The company initiated beta testing of the “Liked Posts” feature on Android last week, and after successful trials, they have now made it available to all users. To access this feature, users can navigate to Settings > Your Likes, located on the profile page. This approach contrasts with Twitter’s method (now known as X), which requires users to access their likes through a separate “Likes” tab on their profile.

In addition to the “Liked Posts” feature, Threads now allows users to upload images and videos in higher quality. This option can be found in Settings > Account > Media Quality, enabling users to enhance their media content for better viewing experiences.

Another noteworthy update is the improved sorting feature for the following list. Users can now arrange their following list based on the criteria “Latest First” or “Earlier First.” To access this sorting option, users can go to their profile, tap on the followers facepile under their bio, and then navigate to the “Following” tab.

Although these updates may seem like minor improvements, Meta’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, has hinted at more significant features coming soon. Last week, he teased that popularly requested functionalities such as post search and a web version of Threads will be rolled out in the coming weeks.

Threads, launched just a month ago, experienced a remarkable initial surge, attracting 100 million users within its first five days. Despite the impressive start, data from various analytics companies indicates that app usage has experienced a decline over time.

With the introduction of these new features and the promise of more to come, Meta aims to keep Threads engaging and relevant to its growing user base. As the app continues to evolve, users can anticipate a more enriched and dynamic experience on the platform.
